Release Date: 1980
Director: Ruggero Deodato
Starring: Robert Kerman, Perry Pirkanen
Plot: An anthropologist travels to the Amazon to find out whatever happened to a film crew that traveled to the same spot a few months before.
Why it’s recommended: This movie is without a doubt the most fucked-up movie I have ever seen. Cannibal Holocaust is/was banned in multiple countries and caused director Deotado to go to jail. He even regrets making this movie. While there aren’t exactly any jump scares, Cannibal Holocaust frightens the viewer with realism and showing how low humans will actually go just to get “the perfect footage”.
Most Interesting Fact: Real animals were used in the making of this film.
Best Line: “I wonder who the real cannibals are.”
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 65%
